Barrington schools food-service contractor does not use ‘pink slime’

Nutri-Serve Food Management, the company responsible for school lunches in Avon and Woodland schools, as well as Haddon Heights High School, says it does not use ‘lean, finely textured beef’ — also known as ‘pink slime’ — according to this report.

From the report:
Tamiko Jones, a marketing and communications specialist with Nutri-Serve Food Management, said her company received multiple phone calls and inquiries regarding finely textured beef in the past months.

“We don’t serve it,” Jones said. “We spoke to our beef vendors and they don’t use it as a stretcher in their beef.”

And what if one or more of her vendors did use the product?

“We definitely wouldn’t have served it,” she said.
