Barrington ranked among Top 10 small towns in region

The borough captured 8th place among “small towns” in this year’s rankings of the best towns in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties, as compiled by South Jersey Magazine.

The annual “Top Towns” review uses an in-depth statistical process to compare average residential property value, residential taxes per average residential value, crime incidents reported per 1,000 people, high school performance (SAT scores, proportion of college-bound graduates, and the rate at which students pass the statewide proficiency test),  number of physicians in the area and recreational offerings, according to the magazine report.

Barrington ranks directly below Medford Lakes and above Chesterfield in the rankings of towns with fewer than 8,000 residents. The No. 8 ranking in the region also places it as No. 3 in Camden County, behind only Berlin (No. 2 overall) and Gibbsboro (No. 4).

The overall winner, Medford, knocked Haddonfield from the No. 1 spot it held last year.

Bellmawr also took a No. 8 ranking in Camden County among towns with more than 8,000 residents, directly ahead of Collingswood. Bellmawr did not rank in the overall Top 25 in the tri-county area.
