The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Camden and Gloucester counties, as well as northwestern Burlington County, Philadelphia and slightly further west.
The warning states:
“AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS… STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM… STAY OUT OF THE SUN… AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.”
Temperatures in the 90s are expected today, along with high humidity. But there is a possibility of showers and thunderstorms tonight that may result in flooding in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday should be warm again, with temperatures in the high 80s before high temps drop to the mid-70s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, according to weather.com.
