Barrington’s annual Independence Day parade will feature an appearance from the Camden High School Marching Band this year, Councilwoman Maureen Bergeron confirmed.

In the past, the band was a finalist to march in Barack Obama’s inauguration and has performed in New Jersey gubernatorial inauguration events as well as at a New Year’s Parade in London, among other national and international appearances.

“I am thrilled to have them,” Bergeron, the borough’s director of community and civic affairs said in an email. “They are very talented, and I am looking forward to watching them perform.”

The parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 3, according to the borough website. There also will be a performance by the century-old Barrington Band after the parade and before the fireworks display at Woodland School.

What about the HHHS marching band? Nothing aginst the Camden Marching band, but HHHS did pretty good this year, and a lot of Barrington students as well.

George, Haddon Heights has always declined. In the past I have left messages with the school and sent emails. I did hear from someone they do not perform when school is not in session .

That’s a shame – Given their accomplishment this year – a little showing off to the community would be great!
