The Barrington Police Department arrested 27 adults in June, according to the department report presented during the most recent borough council meeting. The department also issued fewer traffic summonses this June than it had in either of the past two Junes, breaking its trend for 2012.
From February through May of this year, the department issued 580 summonses. In the same months in 2010, the department issued 297 summonses. While traffic tickets nearly doubled since 2010, the number of calls answered and arrests made was virtually flat.
Last month, however, the department issued 81 traffic summonses, down from 85 in June 2011 and 147 in June 2010.
Among the department’s 27 adult arrests, five were for assault, five for possession of controlled dangerous substances and five for burglary. The department also made arrests related to motor-vehicle theft, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, obstruction of justice and a sex offense.
