With the Barrington Harvest Festival — and the King of the Wings Cook-off — coming in just over two months, now’s the time to get into the right frame of mind with the Camden County 4-H Fair and BBQ rib cook-off.
The event is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Miller Farms, 134 N. Grove St., Berlin Township.
The rib cook-off will take place Saturday. Ribs must be cooked on site over a fire of wood, charcoal or gas, according to the rules. Cooking will take place from about 11 a.m. to about 6 p.m., when ribs must be delivered to the judges. Samples cannot be given out according to the rules, but it will be an opportunity to see how some of the BBQ greats in the region work their magic.
While the smells of pork and beef barbecue waft through the air, fair attendees can enjoy a horseback-riding demonstration, drill team dance presentations, a giant ice-cream sundae with the state Dairy Princess, a water-balloon toss, a talent show and more.
A variety of animal exhibits, musical entertainment, games, arts and crafts, Jersey Fresh produce, vendors, and refreshments also will be available.
The event is free, but there is a $5 charge for parking, which covers all three days.
