11 arrests made during quiet month in borough

After adult arrests numbering in the 20s every month this year but one, Barrington police had to make only 11 arrests in August, according to the report presented to the borough council this week.

Barrington policeAugust also showed a marked drop in the number of arrests made for possession of controlled dangerous substances. Police made nine drug-possession arrests  in July — as many as had been made in FebruaryMarchApril and May combined. Only one such arrest was made in August.

August miles patrolled, calls answered, complaints answered and traffic summonses issued remained near the average for the borough.

Among the calls police responded to were:

  • 5 residential burglaries
  • 1 vehicle burglary
  • 1 attempted burglary
  • 4 criminal mischief
  • 2 thefts
  • 1 theft of a motor vehicle
  • 2 disorderly conducts
  • 1 possession of a controlled dangerous substance
  • 1 sudden death
  • 1 harassment
