Barrington Board of Education President Michael Drumm on Monday asked the board to consider the feasibility of purchasing school buses instead of paying about $250,000 per year for busing.
The board and Superintendent Anthony Arcodia asked Business Administrator Sam Dutkin to research the costs for purchasing, insurance, gasoline usage, etc., to determine whether there would be any savings in owning six buses that could be used for all school needs.
A cost-benefit report will be discussed at a future meeting, perhaps as early as December or January.
