Norcross named top legislator for New Jersey
State Sen. Donald Norcross — whose district includes Barrington, along with much of Camden and Gloucester counties — has been named “Legislator of the Year” by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.
Among the accomplishments he was honored for, according to a release at www.njleg5.com, are:
- The NJ First Act, which required public employees to live in New Jersey. The law helped keep tax dollars in the state, where they benefit local economies.
- Legislation enabling municipalities to hire laid-off public safety officials more efficiently.
- Legislation deterring illegal dumping of snow on public land.
- The veteran set-aside bill that enables local governments to adopt measures that help their veterans, including designating up to 3 percent of their contracts to veteran-owned businesses.
