— Grace Bendorf, 2, of Barrington won in her age group in the Turtle Races during the annual Sara the Turtle Festival in Sea Isle City, according to a report at CapeMayCountyHerald.com.

— A poll by AAA finds 1.2 million New Jersey residents intend to travel at least 50 miles from home this extended holiday weekend, slightly fewer than last year, according to an AP report.

— A recent spate of shooting in Camden included the shooting of a 21-year-old Barrington man, who was shot several times, according to a report at NJ.com. The unidentified victim was treated at Cooper University Hospital.

— A Lawnside police lieutenant, the highest ranking member of the department, was charged with official misconduct and tampering with evidence and public records, according to a Philly.com report. Lloyd Lewis, 44, allegedly failed to notify authorities of a suspect’s confession  about  his role in a homicide, failed to mention the statement in an incident report he wrote and allowed video of the confession to be recorded over.

Battleship_New_Jersey— The Battleship New Jersey, the most decorated warship in U.S. history, will get $1.4 million from the state this year, according to a Philly.com report. The ship built at the Philadelphia Naval Yard at the beginning of World War II but remains in danger of being moved to North Jersey.
