‘American Ninja Warrior‘ — the grueling physical competition show that NBC imported from Japan — has a local flavor for Barrington this year in the form of borough resident Jamie Rahn.
Rahn was the first competitor to complete the harsh course in Baltimore on Monday night’s broadcast, finishing in 3 minutes, 44 seconds. The accomplishment came after a short bio aired — including video shot in Barrington — in which he discussed being introverted as a youth growing up in Cherry Hill before developing a love for art and coming out of his shell in high school.
On the show, Rahn, 24, who now lives in Barrington, dyed his hair a bright yellow-green and painted his body. He previously had adopted the name Captain G4 and Captain NBC when the program aired on those networks last year.
His time on the course was good enough for eighth place and a place in the national finals in Las Vegas, including a chance at a half-million dollars.
“American Ninja Warrior” airs at 8 p.m. Sundays on G4 and 8 p.m. Mondays on NBC. NBC’s Monday show is re-broadcast at 8 p.m. Saturday (so you can watch Rahn on Saturday, if you’d like).
According to his audition tape, he works as a children’s party entertainer/super hero, physical therapist aide and a parkour instructor.
