Traffic summonses more than triple in Barrington in September

The Barrington Police Department  issued 262 traffic summonses in September, more than three times the 86 summonses issued last September, according to the monthly report delivered to borough council this week.

Barrington Police Department vehiclesThe department also answered 489 calls and 139 complaints during month. Among the issues police responded to in the month were a burglary, an assault and a dog bite. Overall, police arrested 18 adults .

In comparison, the department made 29 arrests and answered 418 calls in September 2012.

In September 2011, the police answered 447 calls, issued 69 traffic citations and arrested 18 adults. In the same month in 2010, the police answered 501 calls, issued 129 traffic citations and arrested 29 adults.

Among the calls answered and arrests made last month were:

  • 4 possession of controlled dangerous substances (drugs)
  • 3 theft
  • 3 disorderly conduct
  • 1 assault
  • 1 harassment
  • 1 motor vehicle burglary
  • 1 driving while suspended
  • 1 hindering apprehension
  • 1 soliciting without a permit
  • 1 credit card fraud
  • 1 fraud
  • 1 resisting arrest
  • 1 dog bite
