The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the region, noting that 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible Saturday, specifically around midday or early afternoon.
The notice also warns of extreme cold throughout the coming week.
According to Weather.com, the temperatures will be above freezing only once from today (Jan. 24) though next Friday – when they rise to 34 degrees Monday. Temperatures in the low single digits also are expected Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The cold snap will weaken by next weekend when lows reach the upper 20s and highs get back above freezing, according to Weather.com forecasts.
