The Barrington Police Department answered 686 calls, issued 265 traffic citations and arrested eight adults in January, according to the report presented to the Barrington Borough Council this month.
In January 2013, the department issued fewer than one-third as many traffic citations — 88 — while answering 464 calls and arresting 11 adults.
Calls to the police in January included six for burglary, eight for fraud, four for criminal mischief, two for disorderly conduct, one for theft and one for possession of controlled dangerous substances. In the previous January, there were three calls related to burglaries and none related to fraud.
